Q: Why does dmtpublishing prefer to work with PDF files?A: At dmtpublishing, we've been in the advertising and marketing business for over 25 years. It's important to us that documents, images, and headers keep their format and layout during production and review. This is why we mainly use PDFs. PDF files stop documents from changing unexpectedly, so pictures, text, and headers stay in place. This keeps your marketing materials professional and accurate. PDFs ensure everything looks just as planned, preserving your design and message.

Q: How should I scan my pictures for optimal print quality when using dmtpublishing's services?A: To get the best print quality, scan your images based on how you want to print them. Here's what Dmtpublishing recommends: 1. Same Size Printing: If you're printing the image at its original size, scan it at 300dpi (dots per inch). This resolution is great for most marketing materials. 2. Enlarged Printing: If you need to print the image at twice its original size, scan it at 600dpi. This higher resolution keeps the enlarged print clear and sharp. 3. Large Pictures: For large pictures that you'll resize to half their size, scan them at 300dpi. After resizing, resample the image to keep it crisp and detailed. Following these guidelines will ensure your marketing materials from dmtpublishing are high quality, showcasing your brand effectively.

Q: What are the recommended margin settings for different types of books when using dmtpublishing's services?A: At dmtpublishing, we emphasize the importance of optimal margin settings to ensure your book is professionally formatted and easy to read. The general rule of thumb is to maintain margins of no less than 3/4" around all sides. However, for books with a higher page count, specifically 125 pages or more, it's advisable to expand these margins. In such cases, we recommend: - 1" margins on the left and right sides to accommodate binding and reader comfort. - Increasing the top margin beyond 3/4" to provide ample space for headers or other book title elements. - For thicker books, additional space in the spine is crucial. Setting spine margins to at least 1" will help in maintaining durability and readability. By adhering to these guidelines, you ensure that your book not only looks professional but also withstands the test of time, offering readers an enjoyable experience. If you have further questions on formatting or need customized assistance, our team at dmtpublishing, with over 25 years of industry experience, is always ready to help.

Q: What types of paper does dmtpublishing recommend for different types of print projects?A: At Dmtpublishing, with over 25 years of experience in the industry, we understand that choosing the right type of paper for your print project can significantly impact the final product. Here are our recommendations based on the type of project: 1. Family History Books: We suggest using 24lb paper for family history books. This type of paper is more opaque, ensuring that the text and images do not bleed through to the other side, providing a clean and professional look. 2. Children's Books: For more robust and durable books, like children's books, we recommend using 70lb paper. This thicker paper choice can withstand frequent handling and provides a substantial feel. 3. Basic Documents and Manuals: For basic text documents and manuals, 20lb paper is an economical and efficient choice. It is thinner, which makes it a cost-effective option for large volumes of print. 4. Specialty Projects: Many papers come in different grades of whiteness and texture. Depending on the specific needs of your project, whether it be a high-quality brochure, a sleek business report, or a detailed plan, we offer a variety of paper grades that cater to these requirements. Our team at dmtpublishing is always available to provide tailored advice based on your specific project needs, ensuring that you achieve the best possible results.
